Guidance

Custom-built or existing solution?

Not everything needs to be built from scratch. The right choice depends on your processes, budget and existing tools.

An existing solution is enough

Installed, configured and connected to your tools.

  • Your needs are similar to those of most businesses in your sector
  • You want to get started quickly with a controlled budget
  • A monthly subscription works for you

Custom development makes sense

Built around the way you work.

  • Your processes are specific and standard software forces you to rely on too many workarounds
  • Several tools or brands need to be brought together
  • You want to keep control of your data and evolve the tool at your own pace

GridCore recommends the simplest approach that works. Sometimes that means custom development, sometimes a well-configured existing solution, and sometimes a combination of both.

Could your project qualify for the SME Packages?

ERP, point-of-sale systems, sector-specific software and electronic invoicing are among the examples covered by the Digital strand. Subject to the pre-analysis, up to 70% of eligible costs may be reimbursed for a project between €3,000 and €25,000 excl. VAT.

Frequently asked questions

Software and applications: your questions.

Pricing, timelines, data, training and SME Packages: the essentials before starting a custom project.

How much does custom software or an application cost?

The price depends on the scope: number of screens, features, users and tools to connect. After the analysis, you receive a clear estimate. It is often possible to start with an essential first version and then develop it further over time.

How long does a custom project take?

The timeframe depends on the size of the project. It is divided into stages, with a first usable version delivered as early as possible, followed by improvements based on real use.

Native application or PWA: which should I choose?

A native application is installed from the App Store or Google Play and can fully access the phone's features. A PWA opens in the browser, can be installed on the home screen and generally costs less to develop and maintain. GridCore can build either option and advise you according to the intended use.

Do you provide a custom point-of-sale system or an existing solution?

Both. Depending on your business, GridCore can develop a custom point-of-sale system or install an existing solution with the required hardware: payment terminal, receipt printer or barcode scanner, connected to your management system.

Can you connect the new tool to the systems I already use?

Yes, when technically possible: website, WooCommerce store, sales platforms, email or accounting export. Integrations are assessed from the analysis stage.

Who owns the software and the data?

Your data belongs to you and can be exported. The terms regarding the code, hosting and any licences are clearly defined in the proposal before the project begins.

Where is the data hosted?

With a hosting provider chosen with you, preferably in Europe, with regular backups. For some tools, installation on a company server is also possible.

Do you train users?

Yes. The launch includes onboarding for your team so the tool can be used correctly from day one.

What happens after the system goes live?

GridCore provides support, maintenance and further development according to your needs. The tool can grow with your business through new modules, new users or new integrations.

Can these projects benefit from the SME Packages?

The Digital strand explicitly includes management systems such as ERP, point-of-sale systems, sector-specific software and electronic invoicing. Eligibility is assessed during the pre-analysis and is never guaranteed in advance.
